PROGRAM CONTENT

  • A 72-hour "moratorium" for the adolescent and their family during the initial phase of the program. Adolescents during this period have the opportunity to work with a professional treatment team in developing an individualized treatment plan with separation of needs, issues and clarification of boundaries as a preliminary focus. In addition, this sequence is intended to reduce any sense of crises and enhances program affiliation for the adolescent.
  • A comprehensive medical and psychiatric examination at admission with follow-up care as indicated for each adolescent. Nutritional and nursing assessments are provided for each adolescent.
  • A Primary Therapist to coordinate the care and treatment for each adolescent and family unit.
  • At least 20 hours/week for each adolescent of regularly scheduled individual and group therapy.
  • At least 14 hours/week for each resident of recreational and structured activity.
  • At least 18 hours/week for each resident of available educational activities.
  • At least one scheduled conjoint family therapy session and/or Parent Survival Group a week for each family.
  • Urine surveillance testing throughout the entire treatment sequence, for both the adolescent and substance abusing parent.
  • Weekly clinical staffing conferences to update the individual and family treatment plans involving medical, psychiatric, and clinical consultations/supervision.
  • Resident Supervisors serve as "mentors" for each adolescent.
  • Inclusive, uninterrupted aftercare services for adolescents and parents.
  • Twenty-four hour staff consultation, medical and nursing intervention services.
  • Affiliation with a local acute care general hospital for medical services.
