HISTORY AND ACCREDITATION
Our family therapy focused adolescent treatment program began and was state
licensed in 1982, with a mission to provide mental healthcare and substance
abuse treatment services for adolescents and their family members utilizing
an intensive family therapy approach.
The Institute serves twenty male and female youths between the ages
of 12 and 21. Adjustment, emotional, behavioral, academic, substance use
disorders, and severe family difficulties are the problems most commonly
presented. Intensive 24-hour care and exceptional family-focused treatment
is provided by the Institute for adolescents and their family members.
Parent(s) participate in intensive family therapy education and treatment
sessions regardless of the presenting problem.
Initially accredited in 1984 by the Joint Commission on Accreditation
of Hospitals, the Institute has been awarded ACCREDITATION WITH COMMENDATION
by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations for
its "child and adolescent psychiatric and combined alcoholism and drug
abuse treatment program". We are licensed by the Colorado Department
of Human Services: Division of Mental Health and Division of Drug and
Alcohol. The Institute maintains a relationship with a local acute care
general hospital for specific medical needs of our adolescent patients.
