JOB DESCRIPTION: PRIMARY THERAPIST

1. Full Time Position

2. Reports to Clinical Director/Primary Therapist

3. Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved Master’s degree program with a major in psychology, social work, guidance and counseling, nursing, family therapy, or related mental health discipline.

Documented knowledge and/or experience in the following:

  • Family therapy/family systems intervention.
  • Conducting individual, group, and family sessions with a background in adolescent     residential or inpatient clinical settings.
  • Adolescent development issues.
  • Adolescent psychiatric-behavioral-emotional disorders and treatment interventions reflecting clinical knowledge and level of clinical competency.
  • Patient record management, milieu management.
  • Member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Able to participate in or conduct instructional, recreational, and milieu activities for residents and families in a three story building without the availability of elevators.
  • Diagnostic utilizing DSM IV criteria.
  • Colorado Department of Health- Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division Counselor Certified- Level II, or eligibility.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s license.

Ability to demonstrate these skills during the 180 day probationary period will be assessed by direct supervision of the Clinical Director.

4. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clinical caseload of inpatient and outpatient clientele (adolescents and family members). Provides individual, group, family, and marital therapy.
  • Participates and prepares weekly Case Conference Reviews for multidisciplinary staffing.
  • Facilitates or conducts instructional, recreational, and milieu activities for residents and families.
  • Co-therapist with staff resident supervisors and resident community meetings.
  • Participates in training, continuing education, and supervisory sessions.
  • Member: Patient Care and Services Committee; Therapeutic Environment Committee; Safety and Infection Control Committee as assigned.
  • Supervises Resident Supervisors (assigned).
  • Serves as team interviewer for family systems intake evaluations.
  • Responsible for documentation of all clinical assessments and therapeutic contacts.
  • Crisis intervention and emergency intervention procedures.
  • Obtain First Aid/CPR, and Medication Management training after six months of continuous employment.
  • Completes all Clinical Charting/records for assigned caseload. Documents all pertinent assignments/ observations/clinical issues in resident’s chart. All documentation is to be completed in a timely manner according to Institute policy.

JOB DESCRIPTION: RESIDENT SUPERVISOR- MENTOR

2. Reports to Clinical Director/Primary Therapist

3. Qualifications:

Documented knowledge, skill and experience in the following:

  • Adolescent treatment milieu activities as equivalent to child care worker, group supervisor, activity and recreation supervisor, or mental health worker.
  • Adolescent behavior monitoring and supervision, team intervention techniques, general verbal counseling skills, first aid, CPR, etc…
  • Ability to provide mentoring techniques and efforts to assist residents in the process of “how to get well”, etc…
  • B.S. or B.A. and/or 2 years experience in adolescent mental health field.
  • Ability to initiate and supervise shared group living activities with adolescents within several buildings including a three-story building without availability of elevators.
  • Valid Colorado Drivers License and current CPR/First Aid card.

4. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for 8-12 hour awake weekend, weekday, overnight, and swing shifts, (floor coverage and milieu supervision of residents), co-facilitation of community group meetings.
  • Identifies and records all resident interactions in activity log, including completion of Incident Reports, Community Meeting Reports and Resident Daily Progress Notes according to shift assignments.
  • Responsible for paging/calling Primary Therapist or Clinical Director regarding any incidents with residents or family members in residential care requiring consultation, and/or collaboration of a significant event.
  • Responsible for calling Clinical Director regarding any incidents with non-residents or community. Responsible for calling Staff Nurse regarding any medical/nursing concerns. Presenting data in a clear and sequential manner.
  • Monitor and record milieu and recreational activities such as behavior, emotions attitudes, and interpersonal relationships with recommendations and observations.
  • Maintain supervision of residents and/or modeled demonstration in house chores, campus upkeep, resident laundry, grocery storage, automobile upkeep and other activities of shared daily living as role models for residents.
  • Conduct room checks and document observations and findings in accordance with Institute policy.
  • Monitor urine specimen collection from residents as per policy of the Institute. 
  • Conduct resident searches of personal belongings including clothing, books, purses, bags, suitcases and all individuals upon admission and following passes from treatment. This includes shoes, pockets, clothing on bodies without invasive procedures usually in the presence of a parent or guardian.
  • Meet with Clinical Director regarding work performance, scheduling and “on-call” needs on weekly or as otherwise indicated basis.
  • Provides/participates in structured activities for residents as approved by Clinical Director.
  • Participates in training or continuing education sessions as indicated. May attend training/education courses for Primary Therapist with approval from Chief Administrative Officer.
  • Refers requests for information and program descriptions to Clinical Director with approval from Chief Administrative Officer and for “walk-in/emergency” intakes.
  • Participates in weekly Clinical Case conference and feedback sessions as applicable to shift assignments. Participates in crises intervention activities as specified in Institute policy and training protocol.
  • Reviews tapes, minutes and other documentation of all weekly Clinical Case conferences. Works with Primary Therapist in treatment planning as the assigned “mentor” for approximately three or four residents.
  • Members as assigned to Quality Assurance/Improvement committees.

JOB DESCRIPTION: STAFF NURSE

1. Full Time Position

2. Reports to Medical Director and Nurse Administrator.

3. Qualifications:

Documented knowledge, skill and experience in the following:

  • Adolescent developmental (medical/psychiatric) and assessment skills.
  • Adolescent treatment milieu activities as equivalent to activities of child care worker, group supervisor, activity and recreation supervisor, or mental health worker.
  • Adolescent behavior assessment, monitoring, intervention and supervision, medical crisis intervention techniques and general counseling skills, first aid, CPR, etc…
  • L.P.N., R.N. or B.S.N. with a current license from the State of Colorado.
  • Ability to work 8 to 12 hour weekend, weekday, overnight, swing awake shifts as assigned including floor coverage and milieu supervision of residents within a three-story building without the availability of an elevator. Provide consultation to staff personnel regarding nursing needs of residents.
  • Current valid Colorado Driver’s license, CPR and First Aid Card.

4. Responsibilities:

  • Receive and implement telephone and verbal orders from Medical Director/Staff Psychiatrist/ APRN RXN, or primary care physician regarding medical procedure and/or medication needs of residents.
  • Provide an adolescent nursing assessment at time of intake, in preparation for examination with Medical Director and ongoing nursing interventions as indicated.
  • Review and confirm all medication prescriptions. Update, order refills, and destroy outdated or discontinued medications.
  • Provide adolescent health care education as required by residents’ individual treatment plans.
  • Administrate medication in accordance with treatment plan procedure.
  • May participate in diagnostic intake team evaluation.
  • Complete special projects as assigned by the Nurse-Administrator. Is liaison with pharmacy, laboratory, medical consultants and medical service providers.
  • Identifies and records all resident medical-nursing interactions in activity log, including completion of Incident Reports, Time-Out Sheets and Resident Daily Progress Notes according to shift assignments.
  • Responsible for paging Primary Therapist (call first), Clinical Director or C.A.O. regarding any routine nursing incidents with residents in residential phase.
  • Monitors and records resident milieu and recreational activities, behavior, emotions and interpersonal relationships relating to nursing-medical condition.
  • Meets with Clinical Supervisor regarding work performance, evaluation, scheduling and “on-call” needs on weekly or as otherwise indicated basis.
  • Participates in training or continuing education sessions as indicated. Receives supervision from Medical Director, Nurse Administrator and Executive Director.
  • Participates in weekly clinical Case Conferences and feedback sessions as applicable to shift assignments. Documents/records nursing orders pertaining to treatment plan and needs of residents.
  • Reviews tapes, minutes and other documentation of all weekly Clinical Case Conferences.
  • Completes nursing assessment and treatment discharge report in collaboration with Primary Therapist for each resident.
  • Members: as assigned to Quality Assurance/Improvement Committees.

JOB DESCRIPTION: RECEPTIONIST

1. Full Time Position

2. Reports to and supervised by Financial Administrator.

3. Qualifications:

Documented knowledge and/or experience in the following:

  • Typing/Word Processing with the use of a Dictaphone/transcribing equipment
  • Receptionist skills
  • Filing
  • Record keeping
  • Computer data input
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license

4. Responsibilities:

  • Provides clerical and administrative assistance for the Executive Director, Administrator and Clinical Staff.
  • Monitors daily program operations including resident activity log, incoming telephone inquiries, walk-ins.
  • Schedules appointments for the Executive Director and Clinical Staff.
  • Responsible for preparing agency correspondence, reports for resident charts, licensing agencies, policy and procedure components, etc.
  • Attends staff conferences and training sessions as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as developed and necessitated by the position.
  • Maintains a filing system of all records and documents. Must be able to access files and storage area in a multilevel non-elevator building.

JOB DESCRIPTION: FOOD SERVICE

1. Full Time Position

2. Reports to Financial Administrator

3. Qualifications:

Documented knowledge and/or experience in the following:

  • Food preparation for groups of twelve or more
  • Food ordering
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. of groceries.
  • Able to work 8 to 12 hour shifts.

4. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for management, orderliness and activity level of kitchen, food storage room, dining hall and refreshment room during assigned working hours. This includes all juice machines, refrigerators, cooking and food preparation equipment.
  • Assists in preparation of menus under supervision of Financial Administrator.
  • Prepares all meals, snacks and food in compliance with nutritional guidelines approved by the Medical Director and Dietician.
  • Participates in orientation and training sessions as needed.
  • Assists in the loading and unloading of food supplies and the storage of such in multiple, multi-level, non-elevator sites on the campus.
  •  Reviews reports from dietician and assures compliance with all Health Department requirements for sanitation and safety.
  • Assists residents with special food preparation projects when deemed clinically appropriate.
  • Member of Therapeutic Environment Committee.
  • Follows kitchen policies and log updates in communication log.
  • Supervises and assists in the cleanup after meals and weekly total kitchen cleanup on Saturdays.
